Our Club

Miami Hills Swim & Tennis Club began as an idea within the Day Heights Civic Association — a vision to create a community recreation space. With just $200 loaned by the Association and a $250 donation from Glenn Manker, a small group of determined residents turned that idea into action.

In early 1961, the State of Ohio incorporated Miami Hills Swim Club as a nonprofit, and 160 families joined as charter members at $250 each. Their grassroots efforts — newspaper ads, phone calls, door-to-door canvassing, and community meetings — raised $40,000, enough to build the pool without loans. Local businesses donated materials and labor, helping complete a facility that rivaled others built for far more.

Tragedy struck during construction when Robert J. Moeller, President of the Day Heights Civic Club and one of the club’s founders, was fatally injured in a tractor accident while preparing the site. His vision and leadership remain a lasting part of the club’s legacy.

By 1963, membership had grown to 400 families, with the club chartered for 500 to allow future expansion. Over the decades, continued upgrades and renovations have modernized the pool, courts, and clubhouse. Thanks to generations of dedicated members and volunteers, Miami Hills remains what it was always meant to be — a thriving community built on effort, connection, and summer fun.
